About Spare Hands

Spare Hands is a consultancy that automates routine office work for small businesses. It was set up in 2026 and is based in England.

We build small tools, each for one task. A tool might add each new order confirmation to a spreadsheet. Another might fill in a monthly return from existing records. Some tools use AI to read or write text, such as taking the total from a PDF invoice or drafting a routine reply. Where we can, we build on software the business already uses.

How a piece of work runs

The first enquiry is free. We reply by email with how we would do the job and what it would cost.

For a one-off automation, someone in your team fills in a short brief. We confirm the brief and the £89 price in writing, then build the tool. At handover we set it up with you and show your staff how to use it. For 30 days we fix, at no charge, anything that does not work as the brief describes.

If it is not clear where to start, we begin with a consulting day. This is 8 hours with your team, on site or remote, for £400. Within 10 working days we send a written report and a costing. If you go ahead, the day fee comes off the cost of the build.

After handover you can add a support plan at £25 a month. We then update the tool when a form or process it relies on changes. You can cancel at any time.

Access and information

To build a tool we need access to the files and accounts the task involves. We use that access only for the work and keep your information confidential. We handle personal data on your instructions and under UK data protection law. Project files are deleted 24 months after the work ends. Once the build is paid for, the tool belongs to you.
